The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday night. That victory gives Milwaukee a 3-0 series lead and places the franchise one win away from its first championship. Robert Gasser pitched a dominant opening that set the tone for a lopsided result.

The path to this moment began in late September. The Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. They took the series 4-0, winning all four games by at least two runs. On the American side, the Rays advanced to the World Series for only the third time in franchise history. They beat the Cleveland Guardians in six games to secure the AL pennant. Junior Caminero hit a home run in the decisive Game 6 against Cleveland.

Neither team has ever won a World Series. The Brewers last appeared in the Fall Classic in 1982. The Rays previously lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. This matchup guarantees a new champion will be crowned by the end of the week.

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The Rays host the Brewers at their home park. The game will air on Fox, Fox Deportes, and fubo. Tampa Bay must win four consecutive games to force a Game 7. If they lose Tuesday, the series will move to Milwaukee for Game 6 on Friday, October 30.

The previous two games were decided by narrow margins. The Brewers won Game 1 on Friday, October 23, by a score of 3-2. They followed that up with a 5-4 victory in Game 2 on Saturday, October 24. Monday night saw the series swing dramatically in favor of the visitors.

The playoff schedule shows no rest days between the final two games if the series goes to seven games. Game 5 is set for Wednesday, October 28, at 8 p.m. Eastern time in Tampa Bay. A potential Game 6 takes place on Friday, October 30, at 8 p.m. Eastern time in Milwaukee. A deciding Game 7 would be played on Saturday, October 31, at 8 p.m. Eastern time, also in Milwaukee.

The Rays entered this series with momentum from their ALCS win. They defeated the Guardians 7-3 in Game 4, 3-1 in Game 5, and 7-3 in Game 6. The Brewers entered with a sweep of the Dodgers, including wins of 2-1, 7-4, 6-2, and 6-4. Both teams arrived in the World Series having won their final regular season series, though the playoff results determined the final standings.
