The Class 6A high school football regular season in Minnesota concluded on Friday night with varied results across the east metro.
Roseville captured the Metro Maroon subdistrict title with a 24-14 victory over Coon Rapids. The Raiders finished the season with a 4-4 record, marking their best performance since 2017. Senior quarterback Chase Browning passed for 162 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Browning described the outcome as an amazing feeling. He noted that the team had worked hard for the result and that it was good to see that effort pay off.
Other major results impacted playoff seeding. Centennial defeated Anoka 38-6, a performance that likely secures the Cougars a No. 3 seed. Anoka was held to single-digit scoring for the first time this season. Mounds View edged White Bear Lake 22-16 to take sole possession of the Metro East subdistrict title. Quarterback Tanner Jude scored on a one-yard run with 65 seconds remaining, and a two-point conversion extended the lead. Preston Johnson intercepted a pass on the final drive to seal the game.
Forest Lake running back Mack Jurkovich led the Rangers to a 31-13 win over Stillwater. He rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns, finishing the regular season with 1,600 rushing yards. The result locks up a No. 2 seed for the Rangers. Jurkovich has committed to play college football at St. Thomas.
East Ridge beat Woodbury 42-31 to close the regular season. Logan Tretter rushed for two touchdowns, and Elias Mather returned an interception for a late score. Park defeated Eastview 18-10, with junior receiver Manny Vargas scoring twice, including a 75-yard punt return.
Lakeville South upset Rosemount 17-14 on a 36-yard field goal by sophomore kicker Dylan Nelson with one second left on the clock. The result complicates the seeding picture in the south metro for the playoffs.
