Google is deploying a structural update to the Gemini application for Android that combines fragmented settings into a single interface and restricts the default view of recent conversations.

The update arrives via a server-side push, meaning users receive the new layout without downloading a new version of the app. This rollout follows a recent change that replaced the "Spark" feature with "Task."

The navigation drawer has been reorganized to reduce visual clutter. The search function now occupies the top-right corner, while the "New chat" option remains the first item in the list. The "Library" section has moved up to sit directly beneath "New chat," a position previously occupied by other menu items near the bottom of the drawer.

To manage the length of the history list, the app now displays only the five most recent chats by default. Users can tap a "More" option to expand the full list. For subscribers to the AI Ultra tier, the complete menu includes entries for New chat, Library, Images, Scheduled, Daily brief, Customize, Students, Videos, and Gems.

Settings have been consolidated onto one page, eliminating the previous split between the account menu and a separate settings area. The account menu now handles only account switching, feedback, and help. The main settings page begins with "Manage account" and "Usage limits," followed by a "Preferences" section. This section lists Notifications, Personal Intelligence, Avatar, Task settings, Theme, Skills, Voice, Media, Device controls, Cart and orders, and Gemini Notebook. The Theme entry is marked as a new addition.

Two additional sections round out the settings page. "Data & privacy" contains options for importing memory, syncing contact info, viewing Gemini Apps Activity, managing public links, and accessing the Privacy Help Hub. The final section, "Get support," lists Help, Report a problem, About, and Updates.

The same interface changes launched on iOS, macOS, and the web platform last week alongside the release of Gemini 4 Argon. Android users are now receiving these updates more broadly. Recent app developments also include Gemini Notebook becoming a Connected App, free users shifting to "Auto" models, and a new "Map" tool replacing the previous "@" shortcut.
