Bambu Lab will sell the H3C, a new tool-changing 3D printer, on November 3. The company released a teaser video confirming the machine features a rack holding nine tools at the front of the chamber.

The H3C belongs to the H-line, which currently includes the H2S, H2D, and H2C. It is the closest successor to the H2C, a seven-tool printer that uses induction heating to swap nozzles. The H2C has a build volume of 330 x 320 x 325mm.

Tool changers allow printers to switch colors faster than the Automated Material System, or AMS, used in previous models. This design reduces material waste during color changes. Most technical specifications for the H3C remain unpublished.

The 11-second teaser shows the tool rack lowering into position. A metallic sound accompanies the movement. Idle tool heads store above the build plate, which keeps the view of the first print layer clear. This addresses a visibility issue found in the Bondtech INDX system, where users must look through the rack to see the print.

Online speculation previously suggested the H3C might hold ten spools based on leaked images. The teaser confirms the correct number is nine. The video shows nine colorful Bowden tools arching over the top of the unit. Bambu Lab has not yet explained how the spools are secured.

The H2 line markets itself as a home manufacturing hub. At Formnext last year, Dr. Tao of Bambu Lab discussed building machines that perform tasks beyond standard 3D printing. The A2L model already offers optional blade cutting and embossing tools, indicating a continued focus on multitasking capabilities.

Bambu Lab said the H3C includes features that have not yet been shown. Full details will be available when the printer goes on sale next month.
