Elon Musk’s personal political committee, America PAC, received more than $76 million in contributions during the first two weeks of October. The group reported this influx to the Federal Election Commission on Thursday evening. This injection of capital aims to boost Republican candidates in the closing days of the midterm campaign.

The Texas Senate contest absorbed the largest share of this new money. America PAC allocated $15.2 million to that specific race, which is double the amount spent there over the entire summer. Of that total, $12.4 million funded attacks on Democratic nominee James Talarico. The remaining $2.8 million supported Republican candidate Ken Paxton.

Daily reports filed after the initial disclosure show an additional $9.1 million targeting Talarico. This pushes the group’s total spending against the Democrat this cycle to nearly $28 million. That figure represents roughly 40 percent of all funds America PAC has used to support or oppose candidates. The committee also shifted its strategy toward digital channels. It spent $11.4 million on online ads in the two-week period, nearly matching its combined spending on mail and text messages.

Musk has also amplified his campaign efforts through social media. On Wednesday, he posted on X that there is something deeply wrong with Talarico. He labeled the candidate a creep and claimed without evidence that Talarico would vote to take away children and transition them. Earlier in the month, Musk shared a false claim that Talarico had been treated at a mental health facility. Talarico replied on the same day, stating that there is something deeply wrong with a system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal US Senator.

An Emerson College poll conducted October 17 to 19 among 1,000 likely Texas voters shows the race remains tight. The survey placed Talarico at 48 percent and Paxton at 46 percent. The margin of error for the study is three points. America PAC went into the final campaign stretch with almost $47 million in cash on hand after spending nearly $43 million in the two-week window.

The stakes for Musk extend beyond the Lone Star state. If Democrats secure the House, committee chairs have signaled they will investigate Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency. They also plan to review federal contracts held by his companies. California Representative Zoe Lofgren described the number of conflicts of interest as astounding. If Democrats control both chambers, Musk faces even greater scrutiny. Representatives Sam Liccardo, Jimmy Panetta, and Ro Khanna sent a letter to the White House demanding an investigation. They stated the next Congress will closely scrutinize federal funding awarded to Musk’s businesses, including restrictions on SpaceX’s Starshield satellite service in Ukraine.

According to an analysis of Federal Election Commission filings, Musk has given more than $445 million to Republican political groups this election cycle. This makes him the largest known individual donor in the midterms. More than $165 million of that total has gone to America PAC since July. The PAC declined to comment on the figures.
